Geared toward foster & adoptive families, and applicable for potential adoptive or foster parents, and professionals or ministry leaders serving children. 
Learn an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach from global leaders on caring for children from "hard places". Learn how to promote healing, foster connection, and correct your children with methods that work.

This conference, presented by Show Hope in partnership with the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU and Empowered To Connect, is a two-day event that equips families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care.

CAFFA is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our 23rd full day Parenting Through Adoption Conference! We have an exciting lineup of Speakers, Exhibitors, and Sponsors.

Our day will also feature numerous workshops for pre-adoptive, foster, waiting, and experienced parents, as well as for Adoption Professionals. As always, we will offer shopping from Fair Trade vendors and an Exhibitor Hall to make sure you leave with a headful of information and an armload of resources!

Great news! We have been approved for 6 hours of Illinois foster care license / training for prospective parents, and 6 CEU education hours for adoption professionals seeking Social Worker credits.

Finally, anyone involved with adoption is welcome to attend, regardless of CAFFA membership.

The deadline for all registrations is February 19, 2017. Space is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Fee includes breakfast, lunch buffet, access to all conference areas, and certificates of attendance for those requesting documentation for foster care license renewal hours.

Everyone can act for Compassion to help release children from poverty in Jesus' name.

(All are welcome and invited-- Compassion supporters, advocates, people unfamiliar with Compassion, families, children and youth, churches, leaders, your friends and family, etc.)

Summary

This conference will inspire you to Act for Compassion so we can change the story for children living in extreme poverty. The conference will include:

• Participating in a Walk With Compassion. As a conference registrant, you will receive email updates about how to engage in the fundraiser prior to the conference and the actual Walk that is scheduled for the morning of April 16.
• Dove Award nominee Shaun Groves will be sharing with us through songs and words throughout the entire conference.
• Compassion alumnus Ben Mwangi from Kenya will inspire us with his story and the impact Compassion and his sponsor have had on his life.
• Be inspired by the documentary film premiere, "Central Help," produced by Emmy-nominated director Jon Ross who asks the question, "How different would this world be if poverty didn't exist?"
• Hear what others are doing to Act for Compassion -- some teens who planted a church and a retired man from Wisconsin who raised funds to rebuild classrooms in El Salvador.
• Author Lorie Lee will be leading day-long interactive activities for children and youth as they experience what it means to be "Global in your Local." 
• There will be a session on utilizing the Act for Compassion platform, plus topical workshops and Q & A sessions, plus much more.
• The Compassion Store will be open and you can peruse the various resource booths.
• Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided as part of your registration fee.

The Empowered to Connect conference is designed to help adoptive and foster parents, ministry leaders and childcare professionals learn to connect with children who have experienced grief or trauma - children who come, as Dr. Purvis says, from "hard places." The conference will offer hands-on, practical tips to engage with and support at-risk children.

Conference Schedule

Conference sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Pacific & Central time zones) both days, with a break for lunch.

Parenting in SPACE Conference

 

Parenting traumatized children and those with attachment disorders is challenging - it often feels like a lonely journey into the "final frontier." The Parenting in SPACE conference helps individuals and couples seeking to become therapeutic parents to learn additional ways to help their children with trauma-sensitive, attachment-focused strategies and interventions. And it connects them with other parents.

Parenting in SPACE 2016 is the 6th year of this conference. It provides guidance on therapeutic parenting in a relaxed, rejuvenating environment. Parents will be coming from all across the country to Northbrook, Illinois April 8-10 to learn and be supported by experienced caregivers and professionals who truly understand how to help traumatized children and families.

Post-Adoption Parenting Conference

Rooted ATX is presented by Hope for Orphans in partnership with the For the City Network and hosted by Austin Stone Community Church. The conference will be held in Austin, Texas at the Austin Stone Community Church West Campus Ministry Center located in Westlake Hills.

Adoptive and foster families across America are struggling with children who are dealing with PTSD, neglect, hurt and rejection in their past. Many of these families are in full crisis and their church or orphan ministry is not positioned to help.

At Rooted, we believe that families in crisis, both parents and children, will have the best outcomes only through the understanding of, and obedience to, the transformational power of the gospel. The gospel-centric parenting skills you learn at Rooted are likewise built on complementary developmental clinical research that will address the unique challenges you are facing. This event is for those who need help in understanding the biblical view of the dynamics in your home that are critical to raising at-risk children.

Through its gospel-centered parenting model, Rooted focuses on a foundational understanding of our identity and nature, God’s design in the roles of men and women, understanding spiritual warfare and the role of the body of Christ within the local church for parents who are struggling.

Rooted is based on the presupposition that we can learn much from God’s design for family and how He parents those who belong to Him. We believe that the greatest need of all children is not to become attached to parents, but to their perfect, saving Heavenly Father through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
