Adoptive Girls Group at Holt-Sunnyridge

Summer Girls Groups

Tween (8-12) and Teen (12-16) Groups Begin June 25

Join us for summer Girls Groups at Holt-Sunny Ridge! Our summer sessions feature a relaxed atmosphere, focusing on activities which allow girls to make connections with each other and their individuality. Although the common thread of each participant is adoption, most activities, exercises, and discussions will focus on communication (verbal and non-verbal), being part of a group, expressing feelings, caring about self and others, problem-solving and managing conflict.

Girls Group encourages girls to:
  • Express emotions through activities, crafts and team building exercises
  • Build self-esteem and gain self-confidence
  • Laugh, feel comfortable, and have fun in a safe, non-judgmental environment
If your daughter is in the 12-year-old age range, the therapist will work with you on which group (8-12 or 12-16) would be most appropriate for your daughter.

Girl Groups are designed for ANY adoptee, whether adopted through Holt-Sunny Ridge or not, as well as through international, domestic or foster care adoption.

Who: Girls ages 8-12 and 12-16 who were adopted domestically, internationally or through foster care. A concurrent, parent support group led by a facilitator will take place each evening as well. Girl Group attendance is four minimum and 10 maximum in each group.
