Court Appointed Special Advocates!

What is CASA for Children?

Every day in this country, 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect, and four of them will die. Every day. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children is a network of nearly 1,000 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.

Volunteers stay with children until they are placed in loving permanent homes. For many abused children, a CASA volunteer is the only constant adult presence in their lives.

If you would like to make a difference in the life of a child in foster care by becoming a CASA, please visit www.casaforchildren.org to see how you can get involved.

Help Holt International at Winter Jam 2016 in Chicago!

Winter Jam 2016

You are a POWERFUL advocate for Holt and the children we serve just by taking a moment to share this opportunity with others! One night of your time can help transform the world for orphaned and vulnerable children. When you volunteer with Holt at Winter Jam to help sign up new child sponsors, the work is easy and fun, but the impact is so great. Sponsorship is truly transformative for children and families in crisis - and Winter Jam is one of our greatest opportunities to find new sponsors.

What can you do to help?:
Volunteer!
Forward this e-mail to anyone you think might be interested!
Print out a flyer to share locally!

As a Volunteer for Holt International at Winter Jam Concerts 2016 you will:
  • Help sign up new sponsors for vulnerable children and promote adoption
  • Commit one evening of your time - Holt provides free entry to the show
  • Bring your family and friends - spread the word at  your church or organization

Teri Altpeter is In the News!

The following article is taken from the Safe Families for Children newsletter 8/19/15.  It features our own Teri Altpeter.  We are so blessed to have her on our team at Willow Creek!

Teri Altpeter is a SFFC Ministry Lead and a Volunteer Family Coach. Teri and her husband Tim,  along with their son Zane and daughter Lia  have also been a host family for 8 years. This family attends Willow Creek Huntley campus. Teri has been instrumental in assisting to build SF leadership teams at several of the Willow Creek campuses. She has been passionate about building community among the Safe Family volunteers.

As a  Ministry Lead she has been able to network with families in our community and help match children to families that live close to each other so visitations between siblings can happen easily, organically. There is more joy in serving when serving together. Even if you can't host a child, there are so many different ways to serve by supporting a family that is able to.

Teri is currently mentoring a new Ministry Lead. A next step for Teri will be to become an Safe Family Advocate. This is a new role for volunteers who are interested in assisting an Area Coordinator in growing the  Safe Family movement in the region where they live. We are so thankful for Teri, her expertise, and passion for seeing Safe Families spread in her community. It is exciting to think about the impact she will continue to have as a Safe Family Advocate.
