Special Message from Dr. David Anderson - Safe Families Program

I wanted to send a brief email to let you know how the state's budget crisis is impacting Safe Families. We receive some money from DCFS to help run the Safe Families Program. We were notified late last week that the monies for Safe Families will be put on hold because of the budget crisis. In fact, all the monies that come from DCFS to Lydia Home are put on hold until a budget is passed. At this point, no one knows how long it will take before a budget is approved.

We need your help

1. Could you contact your state legislator and encourage them to aggressively work toward a balanced budget? There are divergent views on tax increases. Whatever side you stand on you could still encourage your legislator to work toward a resolution.

2. Without this money from the state, the Safe Families Program will struggle to make ends meet. Could you help us with a financial gift during this time that we will be without state funds? I'm hopeful the government will resolve this quickly. Please follow the link to make your on-line donation. Safe Families donation A gift of any size would be extremely helpful during this very critical time.

The Safe Families movement has always been a faith journey. The Lord has clearly brought us this far and I am confident He will continue to meet our needs at the very moment we need it. Thanks for your part in this movement.

The Lord gave me this verse earlier this week:

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9: 8

Help get the word out... The need for host homes is greater than ever. We are on track to place 800 - 1000 children this year. The need is especially urgent now as other social service programs are forced to close their doors because of finances. We are constantly looking for others who can join this movement. Please consider the following: Forward this email to families and friends. Contact your church to see if they would be open to a Safe Family presentation. If you quite haven't made the decision to take the next steps to be a Safe Family, click on http://www.safe-families.org/ to begin the process. Pray for this movement of compassion. Thank you for considering this worthy project.

For His Children,
Dr. Dave Anderson
